Cyrus IMAP Contributions

Introduction

In these pages you can find some useful patches for Cyrus Projects, especially Cyrus IMAPd.

Note that some binary distributions, such as Simon Matter's Cyrus IMAPd RPMs, have already incorporated some of these patches, so be sure to check their documentation.

Naming Conventions

The format of the filename for the patches for cyrus imap has changed. We decided to change the format of the filename so that we can have a unified naming of the patches, hence being easier for people to see the differences among releases. The new format is :

cyrus-xxxxx-y.y.y-patchname-M.m-p.diff

xxxxx is the software that we have patch for. (sasl, imap, etc)
y.y.y is the version of the software that this patch is applied to (eg. 2.1.18, or 2.2.x. or CVS-date)
patchname is the the name of the patch (eg autocreate, rmquota, etc)
M is the major release number. This number changes only if the patch reaches a huge milestone, or it is intergrated in the main cyrus tree
m is the minor number release. If a new feature is added in the patch this number is increased. Otherwise it stays the same. When M is increased then m restarts from 0
p is the patchlevel. When a bug is fixed this number is incremented. When m or M increased then p is reset to 0.

This format will be applied to patches released after 4th March 2005.

Old / Deprecated Patches

The following patches are not needed any more, if you are using a reasonably recent version of Cyrus IMAP.
